A lot of retiring sets in the list have only been available for less than a year. The retirements of those sets (such as 75165 Imperial Trooper Battle Pack, 75162 Y-wing Microfighter and 70908 The Scuttler) have come as a surprise for some collector and fans.

At the same time, there are many Nexo Knight, Ninjago and Minecraft sets already retired from the Europe store, so this is not a big surprise that the North America store is retiring those sets too. Since they are mostly non-exclusive sets, so they generally aren’t a good investment unless they are at a significant discount.

The list also includes a lot of the Friends and DC Super Hero Girls sets. They are generally not doing very good in the secondary market, so that makes them tricky investments.

These announced retirements are just a handful of the sets that will be retired this year, and LEGO may still have some surprises in store for us!
