  1. I hope I can get the Death Star before it expires, but it costs $500…

  2. Mini cooper is already retired in europe.
I have a feeling parisian restaurant will retire along with assembly square this autumn. Hopefully the VW T1 will finally retire this year, cause it’s been around for way too long!

    • Two modular sets retiring in one year, this is an interesting idea! A very possible idea too, since LEGO retired two sets in 2018 too.

  3. I bought 20+ copies of the 21309 over several months, because I think it has great potencial.
However, there’s no end in sight, I don’t think it’ll retire within the next year honestly… Maybe shouldn’t have bought them 😂
Your high risk ranking probably won’t happen..

    • I am pretty sure that the 21309 will pis EOL this christmas season, maximum,

    • I didn’t get this as the build looks boring at best. I tend to pick up sets, like many others, for the quality and innovation of a build. I picked up Voltron and The Fishing Shop for instance because of the details and innovative design (particularly Voltron) in the Ideas range. I will probably pick up the Stranger Things set when the price comes down a bit too. No interest in the Moon Lander or the Saturn Rocket. Overpriced.

      • Saturn V Overpriced, wow, first time I heard that. 1,969 pieces for $120, & there are many are large pieces, this is actually as good as you’ll find.

  4. Hi. Is mini Cooper already retired ?? :(( ive a mini and love it. Wanted the Lego 🙁

    • The mini cooper was retired in Europe last December 2018. This is a good indicator that this set will also retire in the US market soon too. Our prediction will be this year.

  5. this is never updated and many sets have been retired since this list was released

    • Thank you very much for your comment. We may update our list in mid-year (June-ish). However, in other words, our predictions are on the spot and successfully predicted which sets will be retired 😂😜.

  6. Just wondered if anyone has a rule of thumb as to when they decide to sell a retired set? Especially with re-releases and updates coming along that can ruin the value of your sets (Death Star, Taj Mahal, Millenium Falcon, etc.).

I’ve had some sets for a few years now and they’ve appreciated nicely and can’t decide whether to sell and invest in more or keep holding on!

    • 6-9 months after retirement for the last 6 years or so has been the period in which most larger Expert, UCS, & Large licensed sets appreciate, after that they always flatten, and in many instances drop. So if it hasn’t gone up within 9 months after retirement, it will not. Prior to 6 years ago, large sets would continue to appreciate for 2/3 years after retirement, thus reaching 2x/3x+ MSRP, but lately it’s been 20% over msrp at best, several months after retirement, & no more after that, so need to get on sale, & sell it rather quickly.

      • A lot of this comes back to Brick Link and people piecing sets together at a much lower cost. If you can hold onto it for a decade you should double your money at least given it is at least a desirable set (nice building or Star Wars or in demand minifigs)

        • Thanks Joshua, hmmm, not sure I have the capital for continued investment for a decade before selling anything! 🙂

Time to do some listing it would seem.

      • Thanks John, only been doing this a 2-3 years but that’s exactly what my records indicate so far! Guess that’s why biding your time and waiting for the best deals is even more important these days.

  7. just an info: the newest article about the parisian restaurant is linked wrong !

Clicking on it, you are not directed to the article. Please repair this error.

    • It is hard to say. The average price in eBay is about $80ish, a significate jump from its $59.99 original price. However, there are a lot of listings there…

  8. When do you expect Ninjago City 70620 to retire? Before the end of summer or closer to the end of the year?

    • In general, Ninjago sets retire at the first and last three months of the year, around November to March. Our guess will be at the end of this year. However, LEGO can retire anytime they want of course 🙂

  9. 70618 is listed as a retired product on Lego’s Canadian website.

A local retailer that carries the “hard to find” products told me that 70620 is listed as retiring in December in their system.

  10. Disney castle better not because I want to buy it after Christmas and have wanted it since it came out but didn’t think to ask everyone for money for Christmas until the new Hogwarts castle and don’t get enough for my birthday

  11. Has the official list been been posted yet, there’s only 16 days left of 2019.
